New Year’s Resolutions? Stop, Drop & Roll!

OK. So I haven’t blogged in a LONG time…  I have been super busy and neglecting the things I love to do. I ask that you forgive me for being absent for so long.

The other day I was struck with an idea.  Something that started as a spark and grew from there.  I feel like it is worth sharing and hopefully it will catch on and make a bigger difference then just in my personal little corner of the world we share.

We’ve all made those bold statements on December 31st that we are going to do something better in the coming year.  Whether it is joining a gym or going to one more often; eating better; quitting a vice you’ve had for a while…  Ultimately a goal that is meant to better your own self.

It’s noble and bold and if you can find the wherewithal to follow through and stick to it, then I applaud you.

I’ve done it myself.  I have made bold promises to myself only to slowly fall back into my old ways.

So I have been thinking recently and I have a bit of a challenge that I am going to try, instead of a resolution.  Something that I will have to work on daily, if not several times throughout the day.  Instead of taking the radical step to change something overall in one bold move, I want to make small attempts to better myself and therefore those around me.

Drum roll, please................

I am challenging myself to not complain about anything.  I mean even a small complaint about something super trivial that in the end affects nothing.  Like I said, it is going to take work on a daily basis to remind myself not to complain about that thing that is irking me.

In this day and age where social media makes us all feel a slightly inflated sense of self.  When our words can so easily reach so many more people that our physical voice.  We often use that outlet to vent or complain or call people out.  To fight a battle that at that moment seems so important.  I am 100% guilty of these actions.  But wouldn’t it be better to use this tool to spread something to better the world?  Instead of adding to the already overwhelming noise and chaos around us.

The purpose of my challenge is to not add to the noise that so many others are also putting out there.  To not stack more negativity on top of so many other people’s negativity.  In doing so I am hoping that I can re-train my thought process.  At the precise time when I would normally say something crappy about my morning or someone’s bad driving or being tired.  If I halt the negative thought from escaping, I can re-train myself to think about something positive.  Let go of the temporary aggravation those thoughts would bring on and maybe make myself and my life that much less grumpy.

Now, I am not saying my life is bad in any way, shape, of form.  On the contrary, I find a lot of happiness in my simple life with my husband, puppy and little fish family.  But I am still guilty of letting the little things it is “normal” to grunt about take up more time than they deserve.

If I am focusing more on the positive, I believe it will make my life that much happier.  If I am happier, those around me will in turn be happier as well.  Positivity breeds positivity.

I think we could all use a little more love and happiness in our lives and a lot less or the divide that is currently all around us.

So, just to wrap it all up for you, the challenge is to replace those complaints with something more positive.  Add goodness to the world, instead.  A stop, drop and roll for the negativity burning to get out.

You want to complain.  It’s human nature.  Instead of doing it:

STOP it;

DROP it; and

ROLL on.

Start Today and continue it tomorrow, next week, next month, next year; and so on.

I believe I can do it.  I believe you can too!  Join my challenge!

Make yourself and the world around you a better, happier and more positive environment!

My Pearls of Wisdom...

I have used twitter and facebook a lot lately to share some great quotes by other people that inspire me on a daily basis.  Since I have been on the path of positivity it has made me see things so much clearer.

I have been inspired a lot lately to share some of my own positive messages with the world.  I want to share these positive vibes in the hopes that they will lead someone else to this path and improve their daily living the way it has for me.

So here are my top ten most recent Pearls of Wisdom... I hope they inspire you!

1. Never cover up your imperfections, because those cracks allow your inner light to shine through.

2. Take joy in what you have and be ever grateful. For someone, somewhere is yearning for that which you take for granted.

3. Life is about finding your slice of happiness and enjoying every bite of it.

4. We are only as good as our word. Our word is only as good as our intentions. Live with good intention.

5. If you can change your bitterness to graciousness, your jealousy to inspiration and your envy to motivation; you can change your life.

6. Our happiness is a direct result of the choices we make every day... Choose wisely!

7. If you find yourself unhappy with something; take action or stop complaining. It's as simple as that.

8. Never hold back. Always hold on.

9. Nothing in this life is permanent. You've got to love the ones you've got, with all you have; at all times.

10. If you want to be listened to, you have to listen too.

Be the change you want to see in the world...

It is so easy to judge others, that we sometimes forget to judge ourselves. It is often times easier to point out other people's flaws then to acknowledge our own.

There is no such thing as perfection and we should be glad of that fact! If there were a concrete example of perfection in this world, none of us would measure up and think about what that would do to our self worth.

There are so many other, BIGGER, things going on in the world around us. Death, Sickness, Wars, Homelessness, Starvation, Torture, Hate, Disasters and the list goes on.

Do we really believe that all the little things that irk us daily are more tragic than the actual tragedies that take place on a daily basis around the world?!?!

We are minuscule in the scheme of things. In the population of our planet I am one of BILLIONS. Yes, Billions. My strife is nothing compared to the real life struggles of people far less fortunate around the globe.

So, if love and positivity can spread from person to person and become continuously contagious. Then maybe we could all learn to start leading by example.

Love begets love, just as hate begets hate and if knowledge begets knowledge, then ignorance begets ignorance.

This world, the whole world, could use a lot more love and a lot less hate. A lot more acceptance and a lot less judgment.

Change starts with one person. It starts with me and continues with you.

The Power of Positivey

It's been a while... sorry about that. April has been a crazy busy month for me and I am oh so grateful that it's almost over!

I have been doing well with my life style change and have been in situations where I have not had the best options food wise and I have managed to make the best of them and find the healthiest avenue within what was available.

Weight wise I have hit a plateau... I am holding at 161+/-... So now I think I need to kick up the work-out end of my deal. Went for a nice Jog/Walk this weekend.

My motivation (besides the obvious): We have a wedding to attend next month to which I would like to get a new dress BECAUSE my staple black dress is too big on me! :)

I have found myself letting the negativity of others get the best of me and plant it's seed. I am a fester-er... when something is bothering me it is almost constantly on my mind. I know it is a horrible habit, because often times I make more of a situation then I should or just worry myself sick from stress.

I have decided that Positivity has a lot of power behind it. I think if I make a conscience effort each day to begin it on a positive note and continue on a positive note... I might just be able to change this bad habit of mine into a good one.

I know that there will be times that I just get a little down or let a little of the negative come out... it's only natural with all these feelings and emotions flowing through me on a daily basis... but if I can manage to make the positive continue to out weigh the negative, then I might just make each day a little brighter.

Shut out the bad and let in the GOOD!!!!
